1 PhD Position (Berlin)

The project is funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DA 484/3-1 und SCHO 634/8-1). The position (DM.79.11) is open with immediate effect /no later than December 1st, 2011.

Salary according to the emoluments group II a/E13 60% in consideration of the personal prerequisites, standard weekly hours, the terms 3 years.

Assignment: The research project focuses on the molecular function and interaction of the transcription factors Wt1 and GATA4 in the development of the heart and gonads. It also aims to elucidate the function of both factors for
tissue-protection in models of heart failure with respect of regulation the biology of erythropoietin (Epo) and its receptor in the heart (for example see: Dame C et al., Blood 2006; Kirschner KM et al., FASEB J 2008).

Requirements: University degree in biology or biochemistry with focus on molecular biology. Background knowledge on developmental biology, physiology or cardiology. Willingness to work with mouse models and primary tissue
culture. Good English skills.

We offer: A broad practical experience with various methods of cellular and molecular biology or animal physiology. In our highly motivated team we will provide excellent supervision by post doctoral fellows and the group leaders.
